Frequently Asked Questions    (Scroll down for Rules)

1. What Age can my child start playing? Answer: Please Check the Matrixes for Age Grouping. Matrix found at www.wvsoccer.net click on youth matrix

2. Can my child sign up after the deadline? Answer: No. Application and monies are returned.

3. Where can I find a (Registration Form) for signups? Answer: Registration forms can be downloaded directly from our web site.  ERSA does bulk mailing for all registered players in the spring and the fall.

4. What equipment does my child need? Answer: shin guards, cleats without toe cleat (no metal cleats of any sort), shorts----  each player should have their own ball for practice.  (U5,6,7,8 use a size 3; U9,10,12 use a size 4 ; U14 use a size 5 ball)  *League provides shirt and socks. U5 and U6 academy teams are provided with a size 3 soccer ball players are to bring the ball with them to each session.

5. Will my child use their uniform for more than one season? Answer: Yes, your child will be using the shirts and socks for fall and spring seasons. So, if playing in the fall, order a little larger size than normal. If you play only in the Spring you will receive new shirt and socks. Each team in their age bracket will have different color shirts and socks.

6. What happens if my child loses or damages his/her shirt? Answer: The replacement is the parents responsibility.


7. Where can soccer shoes be purchased? Answer: Soccer shoes can be purchased at most shoe stores.

8. When will the fall season start? Answer: Fall season begins after Labor Day Weekend and the Spring season begins sometime in April.  Practice starts 2 weeks before the games begin.
 
9. What time does practice usually start? ANSWER: Practice will start 2 weeks before the games begin.

10. Where is practice at and how many times a week? ANSWER: Practices are up to the coach.  Practice can be up to two times a week no longer than 2 hour practices.  ERSA also allows coaches and teams to use the facility to hold practices.
 
11. What team will my child be on? Answer: You will find out when the coach calls you about practice.
 
12. Does the teams do half time snacks? Answer: Yes, it is up to the coach and the team parents.
13. What about Trophies? Answer: Trophies are up to each team.

14. Can we have Banners and Team names? Answer: Yes any thing to make the season more exciting is great. No other uniform may be used except for our ERSA Shirts and socks.
 
15. Do we have to wear shorts? Answer: Please dress for the weather. But your ERSA shirt must be worn on the out side. If you have any doubts ask your referee.
 
16.  How do we know when sign ups are?  Answer: Banners are hung at the Complex, an ad is run in the Blufield Daily Telegraph, and yard signs are placed around town.  Fall sign up deadline is August 1 and Spring sign up deadline is March 1.

17. Can I request a certain team or coach? You can make request but you are not guaranteed your request. Teams are formed based on childs schools. Spring teams are formed according to who played in the fall and new spring signups are added to teams first according to school and then according to whether their is space on the team.

18. Can my child move up an age group? Parents may request to move players up one age group. ERSA strongly encourages players to play in designated age groups. It is at ERSA descretion whether to permit the player to move up or not. Also once a player plays up in age they must stay with that age group. Players are not permitted to move back down.

19.  How does the u14 Player Developement Program (PDP) work?  Answer: Our PDP program was designed to help with the busy schedules of todays teanagers. Many want to play soccer but may not be able to commit to 2 a week practices and 5 straight weekends of games. Therefore, our PDP programs allows the player to signup, receive insurance coverage, t-shirts and socks and organized games each weekend without the
commitment to a team. Our PDP is similiar to refereed, coached pickup games.
